The remains of a heavily rusted 1907 pattern bayonet, uplifted from the Somme battlefield in November 2004 by then Chief of Defence Air Marshall Bruce Ferguson. This item was acquired during the return of the Unknown Warrior from France who’s grave lay in the Caterpillar Valley Memorial Cemetery near Longueval, the former site of the Battle of the Somme.
