Raetihi School Kapa Haka Performance at the Museum
Last week we were privileged to have the senior Kapa Haka students from Raetihi School come to the Museum and perform their set, dedicated to the members of the 28th Māori Battalion, from the 2023 Ruapehu Māori Culture Festival.
Our Education Team worked closely with Raetihi School throughout 2023, including supporting their learning with 28th Māori Battalion. They were supported on the day by members of Uenuku, with many of their grandchildren (and great-grandchildren) performing.
It was a fantastic and moving performance by the students. Everyone who watched (staff, kaumatua, and Museum visitors alike) were enthralled. Thank you for coming and performing for us – it was a real honour!
